Freefall

Lying in the grass,
the air filled with
static as it
whorled around me
in rivulets
and whirlpools
that passed by
in momentary
sacred geometry.

Through the haze,
I heard a friend
say he felt like
he was falling.

We probably were,
but I’d been
training for this
my whole life.

Oblivion was the easy part.
