The Matrix

Nothing excites me anymore.
I feel rubbed raw
by overexposure.

Is it unimportant to me
because I can find it
anywhere now?

If I loved an album when I was 17,
I can go to the record store
or electronics big box
and buy it immediately.
I will never ‘hunt down’ a song now
with the internet.
Word-of-mouth is obsolete.

Nobody knows you
if you don’t have a web site,
and 100 social media accounts.

You don’t exist
if you haven’t created a digital you.
